Nu Image/Millennium has released five character posters from Conan the Barbarian, the latest adaptation of Robert E. Howard’s classic pulp fiction character, which debuts on August 19th.  Previously titled Conan 3D, until the bloom came off the 3D rose, Conan the Barbarian was directed by Marcus Nispel and features relative newcomer Jason Momoa in the title role.  The movie is just one of a number of key genre film reboots due out this summer (Fast Five, X-Men: First Class, and Rise of the Planet of the Apes, to name a few of the most prominent).

In addition to Momoa the cast includes Rachel Nichols (Star Trek) as Tamara, a gorgeous novitiate of a monastery who is the Queen’s bodyguard and Conan’s love interest.

Stephen Lang, who made a huge impression as the almost-impossible-to-kill baddie in Avatar, plays Khalar Zym, a ruthless warlord bent on constructing his own empire.

Rose McGowan (Grindhouse) plays Khalar Zym’s daughter Marique, a powerful witch who is used to getting her way.

Ron Perlman is Corin, a blacksmith who is the leader of the Cimmerians and Conan’s father.
