Here’s the first promo poster for Marvel Studio’s The Avengers, which Joss Whedon is currently directing and which will open on May 12th. The film features an all-star cast of Marvel superheroes including Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.), Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Captain America (Chris Evans), The Black Widow (Scarlett Johannson), and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner).

 

This poster was photographed by Superhero Hype at the Licensing International Expo in Las Vegas, where Marvel unveiled its “Avengers Assemble” movie licensing initiative, a umbrella-themed program which will allow companies to license products based on Marvel Studios’ Thor, as well as the upcoming Captain America: The First Avenger, which debuts on July 22nd, and The Avengers. The “Avengers Assemble” program proves how adept Marvel is at slicing and dicing its properties in order to get the most licensing mileage possible.
