Digital delivery accounted for 24% of videogame sales in 2010, according to a report by the Entertainment Software Association, sourced from NPD.  That was up from 20% in 2009.  Digital sales included subscriptions, digital full games, digital add-on content, mobile apps, and social network gaming.

Surprisingly, the consumer market for videogames is older than most expect, with the most frequent game purchaser.  In addition to being older, videogame players are also more female than might be expected, with 42% of players female. Women 18 or older are a much larger percentage (37%) of gamers than boys 17 or younger (13%).

And for those wondering where tabletop roleplaying game players have gone, 7.7% of the videogame market and 20.3% of the computer game market is comprised of roleplaying games.  That would put the total roleplaying game market in those two formats at around $862 million in 2010.
