In October of 2011 Stratus Games is releasing Eruption, a fast-paced, highly competitive volcano-themed game for 2-6 players (ages 10 and up).  Designed by Chris James with art by Andy Kurzen and Matt Plett, Eruption is a dice rolling and tile placement game that takes only 45 minutes to play.  Eruption is characterized by sense of cutthroat competition as each player endeavors to save his or her particular village from a violently erupting volcano usually at the expense of the other players’ villages.

As the rivers of molten lava rush down the mountainside, players build walls of varying strength to hold back the flow or they can place Lava tiles strategically to divert the flow towards other villages and away from their own.  Occasionally lava will spring up from anywhere on the island and create more devastation.  As the lava comes into contact with a village (as it inevitably will), the village begins to heat up.  After the volcano has finished erupting, the player whose village is at the lowest temperature wins the game.
