Companies that specialize in selling the pieces of liquidated companies have become the most likely winners of the Borders auction, according to the Wall Street Journal’s Deal Memo. That would move stalking horse bidder Direct Brands, which would operate Borders with its club companies (see “Borders Pick Lead Bidder”), out of the lead position.
