Veteran showrunner Glen Mazzara (The Shield) has been promoted to the same role on The Walking Dead, according to Variety, following superstar director Frank Darabont’s surprise departure earlier this week (see “Walking Dead Bombshell”). Mazzara joined The Walking Dead as Darabont’s aide this year.
The second season of The Walking Dead is scheduled to premiere October 16th.
