ICv2 caught up with Jason Hill of Flying Frog Productions at Gen Con, who was kind enough to give us details on the new projects in the works, including the new Fortune and Glory game, scheduled to release next month.
Fortune and Glory is an elaborate pulp adventure boardgame, which should appeal to the same fans interested in Dynamite's announcements of new comics based on vintage pulp heroes The Shadow and The Spider. Hill described Fortune and Glory us: “Each player plays a different pulp adventure hero traveling the world, hunting down ancient occult artifacts, and collecting them up to collect fortune and glory. It plays off the pulp adventure serials of the late 1930’s.”
The game will have a suggested retail price of $99.95. It will include plastic coins, plastic miniatures for heroes and villains, miniature mayan temples, and a nazi zeppelin. More details can be found at “‘Fortune and Glory’”
An expansion for the Conquest of Planet Earth space alien game is planned for a holiday release this year. Titled Apocalypse, the game was described by Hill: “The expansion adds new alien races, and a ton of new cards. One of the cool new aspects of it is an entire new deck of resistance, which is coastal resistance. It basically adds the US Navy and Marines that can fight your aliens when you try to take over new areas on the board.”
Conquest of Planet Earth: Apocalypse is expected to have a suggested retail price of $39.95. A release date has not yet been determined. Conquest of Planet Earth was release last year. See “Flying Frog Adds SF.”
Hill also let us in on Flying Frog’s plans for new expansions in 2012: “Next year we’re going to be releasing a lot more expansions for all of our existing titles to continue to support the games. Our intent has always been to support our games indefinitely into the future.”
For the zombie game Last Night on Earth, the planned expansion will be called Blood in the Forest. It adds a new town to the game, a new type of zombie, forest boards, and numerous fire-based effects.
The horror-themed Touch of Evil will have an expansion called The Coast. This expansion will feature an entirely new coastline board, with a coastal town, a shipwreck, a lighthouse, and a pirates cove, along with new locations and coastal-themed villains.
Both expansions are expected to release next summer.
