Universal has halted work on its planned production of a feature film based on Hasbro’s Ouija property, according to Deadline.  McG (Terminator Salvation) was signed to direct (see “Another Boardgame Movie Set”).  Michael Bay was slated to produce, with others.  The film is going into turnaround and will likely be set up at another studio. 

The film was budgeted to be an expensive production which Universal decided was worth paying a $5 million kill fee not to make, according to the report.  Universal’s film based on another Hasbro game, Battleship, is due out next year (see “First Look at ‘Battleship’”) with a $200 million budget.
