Archie will launch a new digital subscription service for new and old comics featuring the Archie superheroes, according to the New York Times. Archie co-CEO Jon Goldwater told the Times that it plans to create a new comic series titled The New Crusaders, which will feature a new generation of superheroes led by The Shield. The original characters will be depicted “largely in retirement in a suburb called the Red Circle.”
For a monthly subscription fee around $2.99 to $3.99, readers will have access to new six-page stories as well as “thousands and thousands of pages” of superhero comics from Archie’s archive, some never before reprinted, according to the report.
