New York Comic Con News—DC Comics has announced that veteran comic book writer Ann Nocenti (Daredevil) will be taking over the Green Arrow with issue #7, which will mark her first ongoing series for DC Comics.  Nocenti, who created a number of characters for Marvel including Typhoid Mary, Blackheart, Longshot, Mojo and Spiral, is perhaps best known for her more than four-year run on Daredevil (#238-#291) from 1987-1991.  In addition to a gritty “mean streets’ urban vibe, her run was notable for the way in which she had Matt Murdock, who was working at a non-profit legal center, confront social issues such as racism, sexism, and even nuclear proliferation.

Nocenti talked to DC’s The Source about her plans for Green Arrow: “I’m thrilled to be taking over Green Arrow. What I adore about the Arrow is his recklessness.  He’ll shoot off on an impulse, dispatch someone if they deserve it; his heroism is instinctive.  I start with a crazy trilogy that is chock full of surprises. Arrow gets a new woman (and boy, is it complicated), flings himself out of his old life into a new one, and meets a new world class villain.  It’s gonna be a wild ride.”

Nocenti replaces J.T. Krul on Green Arrow.
