Mad Max: Fury Road, the long-awaited next installment in George Miller’s post-apocalyptic franchise, will be the first in a new Mad Max trilogy, according to Financial Review. Miller’s partner Doug Mitchell toldd the Review that script for the second is written and the third is nearly complete. “We never intended to, they were part of the exploration of the characters.”
Mad Max: Fury Road will shoot in Namibia beginning in April 2012. Much of the shooting is going to Namibia, after Miller had decided to film in Australia (see “’Mad Max 4’ to Film in Australia”), because it’s been too wet in Australia to produce the desert conditions the film needs for its sets. Further production and post-production will be done in Australia.
The budget, according to Mitchell, is “confidential but it’s massive.”
