Ares Games will offer a War of the Ring Second Edition Upgrade Kit for owners of the 1st Edition (which was sold in the U.S. by Fantasy Flight Games).  The Upgrade Kit will include the Event and Character Card decks from 2nd Edition, card protectors, and an embossed metal tin with art by John Howe.  Along with the 2nd Edition rules, which can be downloaded from the Ares site, players can then play 2nd Edition using the rest of the 1st Edition set. 

The metal tin and 120 card protectors will also be made available separately as the War of the Ring Card Box and Sleeves, which can be used with 2nd Edition. 

Ares is currently shipping War of the Ring 2nd Edition board game to distributors and expects the product to street by December 15th in the quantities initially available (which have all been shipped to distributors).  A second container carrying additional copies, the Upgrade Kit, and the Card Box, will arrive after the holidays. 

Ares’ War of the Ring 2nd Edition (see “Ares Games Gets Rights to ‘War of the Ring’”) will include a 70cm x 100cm board (roughly 25.5” x 39”) in two sections; 204 plastic figures, dice, counters, and cards, and will retail for $89.90.
