IDW is now offering all of its new comic titles in digital form on the same day as the print editions release, continuing the trend that has pushed the number of day and date titles to well over 50% of the comics released each week. DC, Image, and Dark Horse are also day and date (Dark Horse as of today, see “Dark Horse Goes Day and Date”), and Marvel is going to complete its transition early next year (see “Marvel to Complete Day and Date”).
At this time last year, the first experiments with day and date release were just starting (see “Marvel Goes Day & Date,” for example). Then in January, Archie went day and date with its entire line (see “Archie Goes Day & Date with Full Line”), and over the second half of the year, the trickle has become a flood. By  early October, around 40% of titles were day and date (see “Day and Date Comics Hitting Tipping Point?”), and a number of publishers have made the move since then.
IDW’s move came with the transition of its apps to being powered by comiXology. Apps for IDW Comics, Transformers, Star Trek Comics, Doctor Who Comics, G.I. Joe Comics, 30 Days of Night Comics, Templesmith Comics, and True Blood Comics Collection will now be powered by comiXology.
