Marvel Comics will launch John Carter: The Gods of Mars, a five-issue miniseries adapting the second John Carter novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs, in March.   As is the case with all of Marvel’s John Carter titles, the new material will be considered part of the canon by the ERB estate (see “Marvel to Publish ‘John Carter’ Prequel”).

The new series will be written by Sam Humphries with art by Ramon Perez. Humphries is coming off the quick sell-out last week of his self-published Sacrifice (with Dalton Rose), which is going back for a second printing. 

Marvel’s John Carter books are part of efforts by three publishers (see “It’s Getting Crowded on the Red Planet”) to capitalize on the increased interest in the property related to the upcoming movie (see “New John Carter Poster and Pics”).
