The theme of global conflict is not new in board games; Fortress America was one of the most memorable, in 1986.  Part of the Milton Bradley Gamemaster series, it won a Charles S. Roberts award with game design by Michael Gray.
Fantasy Flight Games hopes to repeat that popularity with the updated release of Fortress America in March 2012.
Players can take the role of the United States and defend against attack from up to three other future nations: the Asian People’s Alliance, the Central American Federation, and the Euro-Socialist Pact.  Players can also choose to play one or more of the invading nations.  Although there are some basic changes to the theme and overall look and feel, the basic game-play is unchanged from the original.
Fortress America includes over 300 plastic figures, 50 cards, 100 tokens, 13 custom dice a game board and one 24-page instruction book.  It’s for two to four players and will retail for $79.95.
