After announcing last Friday that it was expanding its two top Batbooks to 40 pages, DC Comics revealed today that Detective Comics writer/artist Tony Daniel is writing the back-up feature that will focus on Harvey Dent/Two-Face, a superior Bat Villain, who has so far made only fleeting appearances in the “New 52” DC universe.  Daniel will rectify that with his “Two-Face” back-up saga that will feature art by Szymon Kudranski and debut in Detective Comics #8 in April.  The ten-page back-up stories will delve into Harvey Dent’s past as well as examine what life is like for him in the post-Arkham Asylum era.

Daniel told DC’s The Source that the back-up feature interested him: “I’m really looking forward to working with Szymon Kudranski, who’ll no doubt capture the dark mood and tone I’m reaching for in Detective Comics.  I’m going deep into the character of Harvey Dent and the inner conflicts and demons he must confront.  I’m approaching the characters and story the way I would a multi-layered psychological thriller, one that covers a man at the losing end of a battle within himself.”

Yesterday DC revealed that Scott Snyder would be writing the back-up feature for Batman, which would focus on the mysterious “Court of Owls” and lead in to the “Night of Owls” event that will spread throughout the Batbooks this spring (see “Scott Snyder’s History of the Court of Owls”).
