Yen Press has four new manga series debuting this spring and summer including The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-Chan, a spin-off of the cult-hit series The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya that takes place in the world described in the fourth Haruhi novel during the short period during which Haruhi has lost her supernatural time and space altering abilities. The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-Chan Vol.1 manga by Nagaru Tanigawa, Puyo, and Noizi Ito is due from Yen Press in July.
Also due out in July is Soul Eater Not! Vol. 1, a spin-off from Atsushi Ohkubo’s highly popular Soul Eater supernatural shonen manga series. The new action comedy Soul Eater spin-off manga is set, like its popular predecessor, at Death Weapon Meister Academy, but for the most part it features a new cast along with just a few familiar faces for readers of the Soul Eater manga
The other two new series from Yen Press will be released in May. They include the “magical girl” saga Puella Magi Madoka Magica, a new ongoing series that debuted in Japan in February of 2011. In February Aniplex plans on releasing the Puella Magi Madoka Magica anime series, which won 12 major anime awards including “Best Anime TV Series” in 2011, here in the U.S., which should help raise the profile of a series that should appeal to those who enjoy Sailor Moon.
The other new title that Yen Press is releasing in May is Until Death Do Us Part Vol. 1, a 448-page double volume that includes the first two tankoubon volumes of the Japanese series for a cover price of $18.99. The 15-volume (and still ongoing) seinen adventure/science fiction series is written by Hiroshi Takashige about a young “precognitive” whose powers of predictions make her a target for greedy corporations.
