Creative Play Project, a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to providing games to youth centers, has announced Creative Play Day, a nationwide charity event, for April 28th. Hobby game retailers are being asked to donate 10% of sales on that day to the project of bringing a selection of games plus training materials to 200 youth centers across the U.S. Other in-store events will include charity tournaments and auctions. Participating retailers will receive marketing support.
Publishers supporting the project include Calliope, Glow Fly, Highpoint, Out of the Box, Patch, Sandstorm, Looney Labs, Mayfair, and Moosetache Games.
Creative Play Project is headed by Pulp Gamer’s Don Dehm. Other board members include Thomas Deeny (Southern Arizona Gamers Association), Marcelo Figuerola (Greater Games Industry Catalogue, Sorvent, Inc.), David Stansel-Garner (formerly of Catalyst, Sandstorm), and Alex Yeager (Mayfair).
