Dynamite Entertainment has announced the June debut of Prophecy, the first self-contained Dynamite crossover event.  Written by Ron Marz and drawn by Ron Giovanni, with covers by Paul Renaud, Prophecy uses Mayan predictions of global doom in 2012 as narrative glue to bind together a saga that will contain a slew of Dynamite characters including Vampirella, Red Sonja, Dracula, Kulan Gath, Eva, Herbert West The Reanimator, Alan Quartermain, Athena, Dorian Gray, Purgatory, Pantha and more.  These stalwarts of the Dynamite universe will choose sides and clash in battles that will decide the fate of the Earth and all of mankind.

 

Marz, who created the popular Artifacts crossover series for Top Cow, put his finger on the basic appeal of crossovers done right when he talked about what intrigued him about the intra-Dynamite crossover: “I’ve written a fair number of crossover stories over my career, and one of the reasons I keep coming back to them is that they always end up being fun.  There’s something intrinsically comic-booky about a bunch of characters meeting for the first time.  One of the attractions of Prophecy when it was offered to me was that we talked about embracing that aspect, the sensibility that a comic can still be fun, with big action moments as well as big character moments.  I am really looking forward to getting to play with this bunch of characters.”
