The new poster for HBO’s popular Game of Thrones features a dragon’s egg and heralds a new season of conflict (and perhaps an increase in the series’ dragon-based fantasy elements) as the battle for the Iron Throne heats up in reaction to the events of the last season.  In the new trailer Daenerys appears to be the most determined suitor of the throne, but note that Renly Baratheon (Gethin Anthony) plays a big role in the trailer. 

The HBO series, which has already spun off a comic adaptation from Dynamite Entertainment as well as board and card games from Fantasy Flight Games, debuts its second season on April 1st--and typically merchandising of TV series doesn’t really take off until Season 2.  Sean Bean, the ostensible (though ill-fated) hero of Season One made his Season 2 appearance on a previous poster (see "Controversial New Poster for 'Game of Thrones'").
