Spoiler Alert--The new trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man is the most kinetic and action-packed promo yet for Marc Webb’s reboot of the Sony superhero franchise, which debuts on July 3rd.  Though many of these shots were seen in previous trailers, this latest effort provides more glimpses of Rhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Connors (and his alter ego The Lizard).  It also reiterates and makes clear once again that the fate of Peter Parker’s parents will loom large over this revamped origin saga.

This trailer and a trailer for Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises are being shown along with Disney’s The Avengers, which opens tonight providing theatergoers with the opportunity to sample this summer’s three big superhero movies.  Because its competitors The Avengers and TDKR are certified behemoths, and because rebooting a franchise is a tricky business, particularly when the franchise is a successful as Sony’s original Spider-Man trilogy directed by Sam Raimi, The Amazing Spider-Man hasn’t received near the attention that it might have in another year.  Still this trailer provides plenty of evidence that Webb and his young, talented cast are more than up to the task, and it is interesting to compare it with the previously released American trailer (see "'The Amazing Spider-Man' Trailer”).
