Cryptozoic Entertainment has announced the fall release of 3012 (MSRP $45.00), a new Mayan-themed post-apocalyptic deck-building game of survival and cunning. In Cryptozoic’s 3012, which was designed by Charles Tyson, each player Hero builds his or her deck by gaining combat skills to defeat beasts and monsters in encounters. All players can participate in each encounter, helping or hindering other Heroes to the advantage of their own clan.
3012 is ready to play right out of the box. The game comes complete with 228 game cards, 5 oversize Hero cards, and 5 level tokens. Game cards include 120 Action cards, 48 Encounter cards, 25 gold cards, and 20 each Weapon, Ally, and Scout cards. 3012 also comes with a game board used to keep the cards sorted when the action gets frantic.
Tyson, the game’s designer, is especially pleased with the art for the cards, which was coordinated by Cryptozoic and is, according to Tyson, "the thing I liked best was the artwork they put together. It’s stylish, and it’s just what a post-Mayan-end of the world future would look and feel like to me."
