In August Fantasy Flight Games will release Sewer Pirats (MSRP $49.95) a whimsical treasure-hunting board game designed by Andreas Pelikan and first published in Germany in 2011 as Die Gulli Piraten. Players have to descend to an underground realm of discarded waste and scum and then compete using deception and other tactics to fill the best positions on the three piratical "sewer frigates" that roam the stagnant and fetid waters in search of discarded treasure. In order to claim the best haul from the abandoned flotsam, players must make the most of their motley crews’ rats, cockroaches, weasels, and other critters.
The deluxe Sewer Pirats game box includes thirty detailed pirate figures, twenty Color-Click bases, and a rich assortment of game boards, tokens, and cards. Starter rules make it easy for players to dive into their first game, while the "Crew Member Auction Variant" rules add greater depth (and lots of humor) to the gameplay. As for the basic game, six tribes of different "pirates" provide a wide range of tactical options as players assemble their crews in this wonderfully whimsical treasure-hunting game for 2-5 players, ages 10 years and up.
