Las Vegas game show NeonCon has been shut down by the organizers. The final show was in November 2011. "For five years, NeonCon has been our passion project," CEO Doug Daulton wrote in the announcement. "We worked hard to keep the show affordable, engaging and, most importantly, fun. I am proud to say we hit each mark. But in the end, those elements did not add up to a sustainable business."
The show tried a game developer’s conference as part of the show in 2009 (see "NeonCon Launches Social Games Developers Conference"), but was largely a consumer show. And Las Vegas has been a tough town for consumer geek culture shows.
