Dynamite Entertainment has announced the September publication of Jennifer Blood: First Blood #1, a new comic book series written by 2000 AD scribe Mike Carroll and drawn by Igor Vitorino.  Mike Mayhew (Mystique) is providing the stylish covers for the new First Blood series that will complement Dynamite’s ongoing Jennifer Blood series that is currently being written by Al Ewing.

 

In chronicling the lost years between the traumatic family events that shaped her and her inexorable revenge, this new First Blood series will flesh out the origins of the series’ eponymous heroine.  The new series will provide more detail on the experience that turned Jennifer Blute into Jennifer Blood, explaining how a seemingly normal soccer mom could fashion a second existence as a night-roaming vigilante.

 

Cover artist Mike Mayhew is excited to be able "to revisit the same stylistic territory as my Mystique covers… With the First Blood covers I'm trying to tell the tale of her becoming Jennifer Blood.  It's like ‘year one’, where we see her developing from ordinary to extraordinary.  It's important for me to show Jennifer as more typical and relatable modern woman, similar to what I did with Marvel's Jessica Jones."
