Drive director Nicolas Refn is attached to direct and executive produce a TV series based on Barbarella, the graphic novel and 1968 Roger Vadim film starring Jane Fonda, according to Deadline.  Barbarella had been in development as a feature with Dino De Laurentiis producing and various directors, including Robert Rodriguez, attached (see "'Barbarella' Back in Play").  De Laurentiis is now deceased, and his widow Martha De Laurentiis will produce the series with GIT (the U.S. arm of European studio feature Gaumont).

Julien Forest, son of Barbarella creator Jean-Claude Forest and Hollywood Comics’ Jean-Marc Lofficier will co-executive produce.
