UDON is planning a number of art books and manga based on popular videogames in the coming months. Art books include: The History of Sonic the Hedgehog ($49.99, 300 pgs., HC, October 9th), covering all the 2D and 3D adventures of Sega’s blue mascot; The Art of Darksiders II ($39.99, 200 pgs. SC, November 13th), a companion to the new Darksiders II video game with all-new art by Joe Madureira; and Shining Hearts: Collection of Visual Materials ($39.99, 192 pgs. SC, October 9th), gathering material from the third installment in Sega’s Shining spinoff series and featuring art by Tony Taka.
UDON will publish four books based on the popular Street Fighter franchise. Graphic novels include Super Street Fighter Volume 1: New Generation ($34.95, 144 pgs., HC), releasing November 13th, followed by Super Street Fighter Volume 2: New Generation in the spring of 2013. These volumes are based on the previously unexplored timeline of the Street Fighter III videogame series. In addition, Street Fighter Origins: Akuma (HC), an original graphic novel featuring art by UDON’s Joe Ng and story by Chris Sarracini, is scheduled for release in the spring of 2013.
Street Fighter X Tekken: Artworks ($39.99, 192 pgs., SC), based on the 2012 fighting game (simply titled Street Fighter X Tekken), will appear in stores September 11th and will include character artwork, rough sketches, and costume designs, along with creator commentary.
In addition, Art of Brutal Legend, featuring the artwork of developer Double Fine Studios, will be released in standard softcover and limited hardcover editions late this year. The book will reveal for readers the design process behind the characters and setting of Electronic Arts’ Brutal Legend for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
