CB Swords, which is creating replicas of some of the fabled blades used in the filming of Peter Jackson's Hobbit movies, mistakenly released a high-definition still photo of Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) wielding his fabled sword, Orcrist: The Goblin Slayer, which they and Warner Bros. Consumer Products then requested we take down.

The blade of Orcrist features a curved leaf shape on one side and a straight edge on the other.  CB is creating a replica created from stainless steel (blade) and acrylic resin (handle) that measures 38 inches.  The replica Orcrist, which sells for $199.95, is available for preorder only (with delivery in February of 2013).

The high-def image of Thorin, which looked spectacular (sorry you can't see it), is particularly interesting because of Jackson’s decision to shoot the film at the extremely high rate of 48 frames per second.  Even though Warner Bros. plans to limit the number of theaters that will show the first Hobbit movie at 48fps, a higher percentage of theaters will use the ultra high-definition format for the second and third Hobbit films (see "48 FPS 'Hobbit' to Get Limited Release").
