Japanime Games, the US distributor for the Tanto Cuore deck-building game, has announced plans to release three new deck-building game products before the end of the year. All three releases will feature the racy Japanese-style artwork that characterizes the Tanto Cuore line.
In late September or early October, Japanime Games plans to release Kanzume Goddess, which company President Eric Price describes as "Norse gods versus Greek gods." The name, which means "Goddess in a can," refers to the packaging of the product. This is a deck-building style game in which players assume the role of an ancient god fighting through various warriors based on the Zodiac. This is a more adversarial game than other titles in this genre--instead of collecting points, players seek to knock out their opponents.
Although the game features Japanese-style artwork, it was originally published in China. Kanzume Goddess was part of a successful Kickstarter campaign that recently concluded.
Kanzume Goddess includes 192 game cards and life counters, and is packaged in a metal tin can.
In December, Japanime plans to release a second expansion for Tanto Cuore entitled Romantic Vacation. This will be both an expansion and a stand-alone game, with an island-vacation theme. As with the earlier titles in the series, players are the "lords" of houses that must manage a staff of racy-attired maids. Scoring in this expansion centers around the new “reminiscence cards” which award points in exchange for discarding maids.
The third title planned is Barbarossa, another deck-building game with racy images featuring a different take on the German invasion of Russia during World War II, this time featuring all-female armies. ICv2 originally covered this title in April. See "Anime-Based ‘Barbarossa Deck Building Game'" for a detailed description.
Tanto Cuore: Romantic Vacation and Barbarossa will both be produced in partnership with Arclight Games in Japan.
