Marvel’s The Avengers is going back into wide release for Labor Day weekend, in about 1,700 theaters, according to Hollywood Reporter.  The film is currently the third highest grossing film all time in the U.S., only $40 million behind Titanic.  Although it’s unlikely to catch up to Titanic in a single weekend, the wide release does give it a good chance to get to #2 before it leaves theaters entirely (the home video release is scheduled for late September, see "'Avengers' Home Video in September").
