A lawsuit filed by the German luggage maker Rimowa BhmbH has now officially delayed the release of the limited edition 10-disc Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase 1--Avengers Assembled box set. Amazon stopped taking orders on the set late last month, when the lawsuit was filed (see "Amazon Pulls 'Avengers' Blu-Ray Set"), but still lists the set as “delayed” and has not cancelled the orders it has already received.
The lawsuit has delayed the release of the briefcase-shaped box set, but it does not affect the two-disc and four-disc DVD, Blu-ray, and Combo releases of The Avengers, which are expected to bolster the home entertainment market big time when they are released on September 25th, and which could possibly make The Avengers the number one video release of the year, paralleling the performance of Joss Whedon’s movie on the box office side, where it has already earned over $1.5 billion worldwide.
