With almost three days left Bob Burden’s Kickstarter Project has already earned pledges of more than $27,814 to publish print and digital versions of the Flaming Carrot Comics: The Wild Shall Wild Remain, Collected Vol. 2.  The project will fund the publication of the material both digitally and in a 250-page signed and numbered hardcover edition.  A new updated offer aimed at retailers allows those who pledge $150 to receive five copies of the signed and numbered 250-page hardcover plus a free copy of Flaming Carrot Collection Vol. 6: Unacceptable Behavior, which collects the five Flaming Carrot Image Comics issues from 2005.

So far Burden’s project has more than doubled its initial goal of $12,500.  The veteran indie comics creator told USA Today, "I think what Kickstarter brings to the table for creators is definitely and without a doubt a threat to publishers... Most publishers have to pick and choose (comic book projects) and they might miss the next big thing.  Kickstarter allows us to develop on our own terms for a very select audience."
Burden described his over-all goals in using Kickstarter in a statement to ICv2.  "Here’s the long and the short of it," said Burden.  "By raising money on Kickstarter, we are able to keep our cover price down, and give a good discount through Diamond."
