Today Marvel Comics issued two more "teasers" for new Marvel NOW! titles. The first revealed that writer Dennis Hopeless and artist Salvador Larocca would be working together on a December-shipping book that has something to do with the word "Wanted." This was followed shortly by the revelation that Ultimate Comics scribe Sam Humphries and artist Ron Garney would be working on a January-shipping Marvel NOW! title that somehow relates to the word "Killers." In the past when Marvel releases two teasers in such close proximity, it usually means that the titles are related somehow. These two announcements bring the total of the second wave of Marvel NOW! titles teased this week to 4.
While it is tempting to put today’s teasers together ("Wanted Killers"), like yesterday’s "Survive," the clues today are so generic as to mean almost nothing. The "Killers" could refer to Uncanny X-Force since Rick Remender is finishing his run on that book in December, but there are plenty of lethal heroes in the Marvel universe, so perhaps the most astute thing that can be said about the new "Killers" title is that it will mark the first time that Sam Humphries, who has penned Ultimate books and Marvel’s John Carter adaptation, will be working in the mainstream Marvel universe.
