Emmett-Furla Films will put a movie based on Hasbro’s Monopoly into production in 2013, the company announced. This will be the first of three movies based on Hasbro properties that Emmett-Furla will finance and co-produce under the new agreement. Hasbro will co-produce with Emmett-Furla and Brandon Grimes, and Emmett-Furla and Envision Entertainment’s Stepan Martisoyan and Remington Chase will co-finance.
Monopoly was originally part of the deal between Hasbro and Universal (see "'Monopoly,' 'Magic' Movies on Tap?") that produced Battleship. No director or writer has been announced for the Emmett-Furla production
Emmett-Furla recently released End of Watch (see "Trio Tied for First as 'Dredd' Bombs"), and is wrapping production on 2 Guns, based on the graphic novel by Steven Grant and Mat Santolouco (see "Marsden Joins '2 Guns' Cast").
In addition to Monopoly, the deal encompasses Hungry Hungry Hippos (!?) and Action Man, the British version of G.I. Joe, according to Hollywood Reporter.
