NYCC News: At the Vertigo panel at the New York Comic Con two of the hottest writers in comics, Scott Snyder and Jeff Lemire, announced new Vertigo comic book series for 2013.  Snyder, whose Batman is now clearly DC’s bestselling book and who is collaborating for the first time with Jim Lee on a new Superman title (see "Scott Snyder & Jim Lee on New 'Superman' Book"), will write Wake for Vertigo with Sean Murphy providing the art.  Lemire, who just continues to pile up award nominations for his comic book work, will follow up his critically-acclaimed Vertigo series Sweet Tooth series with a new title Trillium that will combine science fiction and romance.

Snyder’s Wake, which will mark the second time that the writer has worked with artist Sean Murphy (the American Vampire: Survival of the Fittest miniseries was the first), will mix horror and science fiction in the claustrophobic world of deep-sea exploration.  Just what exactly is lurking in the deep will be the focus of this 12-issue maxiseries.

Lemire’s Trillium, which is currently slated for about ten issues, features an unlikely romance across time between a botanist named Nika from the year 3797 and William Pike, an explorer scarred by his experiences in World War I who is leading an expedition to the deepest jungles of Peru in 1921.
