Brothers Christopher and William Cormier have been charged in connection with the murder of Sean Dugas of Pensacola, Florida, for his collection of Magic: The Gathering cards, according to the Pensacola News Journal.  The collection was valued at between $25,000 and $100,000, and included a Black Lotus card, according to the report.
The charges allege that William Cormier beat Dugas to death in late August while his brother Christopher watched.  The body was discovered buried in a plastic container that was partially encased in concrete behind the Cormiers’ father’s house in Windsor, Georgia.  The cards were sold in Pensacola, Georgia, and Tennessee, according to the charges.  The brothers had been guests of Dugas prior to the killing.
Dugas was one of the Pensacola area’s most active Magic players, according to WTSP; the Cormier twins had been active in the Magic community in the past but hadn’t been in recent years.
