Academy Award-winning director Ron Howard is in talks to helm a live-action adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s YA classic The Graveyard Book.  Gaiman’s book won the Carnegie and Newbery medals in 2008 (the only book to win both awards) and was quickly optioned for film.  Director Neil Jordan was originally attached to direct a live-action version, but when that fell through Disney stepped in and grabbed the rights in April of 2012 (see "Disney Grabs Gaiman's 'The Graveyard Book'").  A stop-motion version of the book directed by Henry Selleck even had an October 2013 release date, but then Selleck and Disney parted ways (see "Disney Exits Selleck's Untitled Stop-Motion Epic").

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Life of Pi and Marley and Me producer Gil Netter will produce the new live-action adaptation.  Howard and his producing partner Brian Grazer will oversee the writing of a new script.
