Michael Turner’s Fathom will be the sixth title in Aspen’s "10 for 10" initiative, the company has announced. Fathom #1, priced at a budget-friendly $1, will debut July 24th and will coincide (roughly) with the 15th anniversary of the property, which was originally published by Top Cow Productions.
Written by David Wohl (Legend of the Shadow Clan) with art by Alex Konat (Fathom, Mindfield) and Beth Sotelo (Fathom, Shrugged), Fathom #1 features "a new direction for the series" as Aspen Mathews, the daughter of two worlds, tries to build a new life for herself in San Diego. The storyline follows in the wake of "The Elite Saga," the summer event from Aspen that acts as a lead-in to the new series.
As with Aspen’s other "10 for 10" releases, various fan and retailer incentives will be available, including a special Aspen Reserved Edition of Fathom #1 featuring cover art by Konat and colorist Peter Steigerwald. Fans who collect all ten Aspen Reserved Edition covers in Aspen’s "10 for 10" initiative will be eligible to receive a free copy of the full-size "Perfect 10’s" jam poster.
Aspen’s "10 for 10" publishing event, tied to its tenth anniversary as a company, launched in February with Legend of the Shadow Clan (see "'Legend of the Shadow Clan'").
Fathom #2 is scheduled for August, with J. Scott Campbell handling art duties on the Retailer Incentive cover.
