Square Enix will shut down its E-Manga service in the U.S. and France on May 23rd, according to Animeanime.jp via Anime News Network.  The service was launched in 2010 to directly distribute English and French versions of the company’s manga titles such as Fullmetal Alchemist and Soul Eater (see "Square Enix Launching E-Manga").

Customers who have purchased manga from the service will still be able to read their purchase, but no new sales will be made, according to the report.

This is the second small digital manga service to announce a May shutdown; J-Manga, launched by a consortium of Japanese publishers, began shutting down in March (see "JManga Shuts Down").

Print editions of Square Enix are sold in the U.S. by both Viz (Fullmetal Alchemist) and Yen (Soul Eater).  Both have digital manga stores.
