For some time, Eagle Games has supported its railroad expansion game Railways of the World with a variety of expansion sets and variants. This summer, Eagle Games plans to release a new dice-based version of the game, to be called Railways Express.
In Railways Express, players use a set of four dice to lay track routes across a map of the United States, southern Canada, and northern Mexico. The goal is to connect all four cities matching your color. Connecting cities also grants certain bonuses that make it easier to build track on future turns.
Railways Express uses many of the core game mechanics and play elements of Railways of the World with a simpler rule set and shorter playing time. It is intended to serve as a jumping on point for players new to the series, but also as a quicker alternative for experienced fans of the series. The game was designed by Rick Soued and Sean Brown, and will have a suggested retail price of $39.99.
