Move over Sookie, Dynamite Entertainment has announced the August debut of Vampirella: Southern Gothic #1, the first book in a five-issue miniseries that will provide fans with a stand-alone Vampy adventure set against a swampy Mississippi background.  Mississippi native Nate Crosby (Cow Boy, Jim Henson’s The Storyteller) is writing the new series, while Jose Luis will provide the interiors.

In Southern Gothic, a wounded Vampirella heads to the Deep South where she reunites with an old flame and finds herself embroiled in a murder mystery that is thick with that old time religion and buckets of blood.
