The first release from Sasquatch Game Studio will be Primeval Thule, a sword & sandals campaign setting compatible with both Pathfinder and Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition.
Game industry veterans Richard Baker, David Noonan and Stephen Schubert founded Sasquatch, a design house and publisher that, according to their Website, is "devoted to making top-notch hobby games for experienced gamers who want to take their game experience to the next level."
Their collective resumes are impressive, as they have design and development credits for TSR, Wizards of the Coast, and Paizo. Baker was a core designer on D&D 3rd Edition as well as currently working on the Pathfinder Online game. Schubert worked extensively as a designer/developer for D&D 3rd and 4th Edition, as well as being a core developer on the D&D Miniatures Game. Noonan has worked on 3rd and 4th Edition D&D products as well as being the lead writer for the TERA MMORPG.
Primeval Thule grew out of the trio’s ongoing Thursday night D&D game, or more specifically, their shared love of pulp adventures: stories by Robert E. Howard (Conan), H.P. Lovecraft (Cthulhu), and Clark Ashton Smith.
"Modern fantasy draws from two great inspirations: epics such as Lord of the Rings, and the adventure stories of characters such as Conan, Tarzan, or John Carter," said Baker. "We feel that there aren’t many game settings around that capture the action, savagery, and barbaric splendor of the sword-and-sandals tradition. That’s the experience we want to deliver with our Primeval Thule setting."
