Marvel has announced new details about the 10-part X-Men: Battle of the Atom (see "New X-Men Crossover Announced"), the first major X-Men crossover event in more than three years, beginning in September and ending in October. Creators involved include Brian Michael Bendis, Jason Aaron, Brian Wood, Frank Cho, Stuart Immonen, Chris Bachalo, David Lopez, and Giuseppe Camuncoli.
To change the course of history and prevent Scott Summers’ mutant revolution, Hank McCoy brought the original X-Men, who were somewhat overwhelmed by the situation, into the present. Meanwhile, the future X-Men travel back in time to warn the original X-Men to return to the past or mutantkind is doomed.
It’s a different kind of “civil war” in X-Men: Battle of the Atom, which includes the teaming of unlikely allies, a mysterious plan by S.H.I.E.L.D., and the unforeseen consequences for tinkering with the fabric of time and space.
