20th Century Fox announced Thursday it will be moving release dates for X-Men: Days of Future Past, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and Assassin's Creed, and set dates for Independence Day 2 and a new Tim Burton film.

The most notable change, is the swap of X-Men: Days of Future Past and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, moving X-Men: DoFP forward from July 18, 2014, to May 23, 2014 and conversely, moving back Apes from May 23, 2014, to July 18, 2014.

This will put X-Men: DoFP (see "New Photo Hints at the Presence of Sentinels in 'X-Men: DOFP'") only three weeks after Sony’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which is set to open May 2, 2014 (see "Dates Set for Two More 'Spider-Man' Movies").

The video game-based film Assassin's Creed, starring Michael Fassbender, was also pushed back from May 22, 2015, to June 19, 2015.  Peregrine's Home for Peculiars, based on Ransom Riggs' novel, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, directed by Tim Burton from a script by Jane Goldman (who wrote X-Men: First Class) will debut July 31, 2015.  Independence Day 2 will open on July 3, 2015.
