Comic-Con News:  Comicdom’s number one power couple, Amanda Connor and Jimmy Palmiotti will write a new ongoing comic book series for DC Comics featuring Harley Quinn, the Joker’s girlfriend and current member of DC’s Suicide Squad.  The character will keep much of her current look, which owes a lot to her appearance in the Arkham Asylum video games, rather than reverting to her “court jester” look from her original appearances on Batman: The Animated Series, though some echoes of those original animated character designs (along with a healthy helping of Roller Derby influence) can be seen in Connor’s artwork that DC released when announcing the new comic.
 
The Harley Quinn comic will mark the first time that Connor and Palmiotti will team up to write a comic book series.  Although Connor did produce the artwork that accompanies this article, she will not be the regular artist on the series.  DC plans to announce the rest of the creative team for the new title in the coming weeks.
 
Will Harley be a hero or a villain in her new iteration?  Chances are she will continue to be a bit of both, though we will have to wait a while to find out for sure.  According to Comic Book Resources, the new ongoing Harley Quinn series will debut from DC later this year.
