Variety is reporting that Stu Zicherman and Raven Metzner have signed on to write the screenplay for the Elektra film starring Jennifer Garner, who has approved the story they outlined.  Fox executives are planning to begin shooting in the summer of 2004 during Garner's hiatus from the Alias TV series.  No director has been chosen yet, and it appears unlikely that Daredevil helmer Mark Steven Johnson will be available since he has already signed on to direct Nicholas Cage in an adaptation of Ghost Rider (see 'Nicholas Cage To Star In Ghost Rider') as well as a second Daredevil film.  However Johnson has signed on as a producer on the new Elektra film along with Marvel's Avi Arad and Gary Foster.

Zicherman and Metzner got the Elektra assignment because of the strong script they wrote for another Marvel movie project, Deathlok, currently in production at Paramount.  According to Variety Zicherman and Metzner's story for the Elektra film 'relies heavily on the Frank Miller-created The Elektra Saga.'  Elektra's martial arts mentor Stick will reportedly play a central role in the film.
