Warner Bros. has announced the November 12th home entertainment release of Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, the successful rebooting of the Superman franchise that has earned nearly $650 million worldwide.  The film will be available in a number of formats including a Blu-ray 3-D Combo Pack (MSRP $44.95, a Blu-ray/DVD Combo Pack (MSRP $35.99), a 2-disc DVD Special Edition (MSRP #28.98), and a 3-D Limited Collector’s Blu-ray Edition (MSRP $59.99).
 
All of the Blu-ray editions of the film include a standard definition (DVD) version of the film as well as a hi-def Blu-ray version.  The 3-D versions also include a 3-D hi-def version of the film (that requires a 3-D capable TV set to display).  The 3-D Limited Collector’s Edition features a limited release metal "S" Superman Logo glyph that comes with a Lucite stand for display.  All versions include access to an Ultra Violet feature that allows consumers to stream the film in standard definition on a wide range of devices.
 
The three Blu-ray versions come with more than 4 hours of extras including a feature-length "making-of" documentary, a feature on the legendary characters of the Superman mythos, another on the training regimen of the film’s stars, and two very interesting features on the Kryptonian elements in the film, one of which is the feature "Planet Krypton," the first dedicated exploration of Krypton and its lost society.  The "Planet Krypton" and the feature-length documentary are only included on the Blu-ray versions.
