Dallas Middaugh, who served for three years as the director of sales and marketing at Viz, LLC, has formed Redshift, a new company dedicated to providing sales representation and business development services for comic book publishers.  Redshift is currently representing Slave Labor Graphics and Oni Press.  Middaugh sees a major opportunity in graphic novels with bookstore sales having more than doubled during each of the past two years, and Middaugh believes that 'more than the traditional comics companies, independent publishers are best suited to take advantage of that growth.'

One of Redshift's first forays into the mass market bookstores involves a special edition of Ted Naifeh's Courtney Crumrin and the Night Things that Oni Press will publish exclusively for Waldenbooks and Borders.
