Mike Boze of HawgHead Comics in Fort Smith, Arkansas read the recent article on Overstock.com's price war with Amazon.com (see "Online Graphic Novel Price War Made Permanent") and had this to say.

I just read the second of two articles on the price war between Amazon and Overstock.  Part of which I repeated below.

"The Walking Dead Compendium Vol. 1, ($59.99 MSRP), which was (during the sale) going for $23.93 on Overstock and $26.59 on Amazon is now selling for $29.63 on both sites, while the Batman: The Court of Owls Book and Mask Set (MSRP $24.99) was selling for $7.54 (70% off) on Overstock and $10.49 on Amazon, is now going for $14.99 on both sites."

From the looks of it I have probably ordered my last trade paperback from Diamond until publishers decide that the future of comics does not lie with the big discount online stores.

Added to this is the current trend to get more and more stores to carry Wizards of the Coast products and more to hold tournaments.  Over the last year, since the latest wave of pushing for more stores, I have seen a great increase in the number of booster boxes I have sold at greatly reduced prices to move inventory.  For more proof check out the prices on eBay.

Pushing for more stores is not like Field of Dreams, if we build them they (customers) will come.  I expect that we will soon see a great crash when all these new stores decide that making a profit selling at Wal-Mart prices just doesn't work.
