Abrams Books will release Star Wars: Frames, which it calls "The Ultimate Star Wars Collectible," on October 29th.
The $150 package comes in the form of two 368-page hardcover books, enclosed in a deluxe slipcase. The books collect George Lucas’s personal, shot-by-shot frame selections from both the Original Trilogy and the Prequel Trilogy of Star Wars films. The books feature 1,416 color illustrations and an original introduction by Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrinth) and J. W. Rinzler (executive editor at Lucasfilm Ltd. and author of The Making of Star Wars and The Making of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith).
The volumes look back on the Star Wars saga from the perspective of isolated stills from each of the six films, "focusing on them intensely as works of photography and design," according to Abrams. Lucas spent two years going through more than 150,000 frames per film--over one million in all--editing it down to the 1,416 images chosen for the book.
For better or worse, Amazon.com currently has the pre-order price set at $90.00--with free shipping.
